My research interests revolve around the language, writings and texts of the New Testament. This takes me into the language and linguistic issues of the Greek of the New Testament and Hellenistic worlds, especially as this can be examined through the lense of modern discourse methods. As a result, I also have a keen interest in the actual manuscripts that reflect the growth and development of the New Testament and related textual tradition. Finally, a number of the biblical authors continue to fascinate me, and provide focus for some of my research interests, including John, Luke, but especially Paul.
- I am currently writing a commentary on the Book of Romans, and want to follow this up with commentaries on the Pastoral Epistles, 1 and 2 Maccabees, and then, my big commentary project, the Book of Acts.
- I am also always involved in research in Greek language and linguistics. Currently, I am working to complete a series of graded Greek grammars, which will begin with elementary Greek and end with a full reference grammar of Hellenistic Greek, and include other instructional and linguistic tools along the way.
- Several other topics that I also try to work on when I have time are several projects on John’s Gospel and on Paul. I have some new ideas regarding both and wish to get them into print soon. I am also keenly involved in research regarding papyrology, especially New Testament and other literary texts.
- As a final project, I am putting together ideas for a book on contemporary issues that continue to plague the Evangelical church.
